Between the ethics of duty and the ethics of happiness, a third way: the ethics of imitation (I)

Philosophical and theological ethics are usually divided into two groups: teleological ethics (eudemonism and consequentialism) and deontological ethics (duty ethics and procedural ethics). After highlighting their value and limitations, the article proposes a third path: the morality of imitation. It shows that this is based as much on Revelation as on everyday experience, philosophy and the sciences. It seeks to articulate these three morals of happiness (and virtue), law and model - making the latter a mediation between the first two - and responds to the objections usually raised against mimetic ethics.
