The author treats of the place of the Mother of God in the «ecclesial being» of the Orthodox Christianity. Her central role in the spiritual and liturgical life, essentially christocentric, comes from a mediation without any dogmatic formula in intimate connexion between the Word of God and his silence, the Tradition and the memory concealed in her heart. In her protection (pokrov in Russian) as a defense against the misfortunes of this life is revealed the maternity of God. Her figure conceals in itself the original wisdom of unity which ontologically makes the multitude of believers one soul in Christ.
