The Family in the Light of Biblical Data

When we question the Bible about the family, we are reminded of the fact that the everything begins with the creation of the first man and woman «according to the image and resemblance of God» (Gen. 1, 27). The good order of creation is governed by historical law. The family transmits faith and a law whose end is life, a project renewed in the context of the Covenant by prophets and wise men and women. God commits himself the first through radical forgiveness in order to assure the familial foundation of society. Jesus accomplishes this intention of the Father in his people for all through the Holy Spirit. Even as He makes family relationships relativise to His own person, He founds on them the created order.
