The success of the XIIth World Day of Youth at Paris can also be understood at the local level of the parish, where the long term preparation took place. There one sees clearly the dynamics of the forces set into motion: the happy coming together of parochial, diocesan, and broader energies involved in ministry with youth; the fundamental role of biblical and liturgical symbols in the faith-life of christians; the value of the witness of Christ that the Church renders for the edification of the hope of the humanity.
