Examining the significance of the anti-Judaism as manifested in the N.T., the author suggests the following alternatives: should we infer that this anti-Judaism is scriptural proof that the Old Covenant, deemed obsolete, has been abolished, or ought we consider it as a nullify the breakthrough of Vatican II and the subsequent declarations that the first Covenant «which has not been denounced» (Jean-Paul II) is still valid. In the second case, there is no longer any «mystery» (cf. Rom 11 ss) which challenges Christians hic et nunc. Considering the fact that certain modern Christian Apologetics makes polemical use of the passages of the NT with anti-Jewish connotation, the author calls for an elucidation of the doctrinal significance of that anti-Judaism and proposes a pastoral method of research in the spirit of the «new view» on the Jews which the Church now advocates.
