The present study deals with the meaning of the biblical interdict in matter of representation. This interdict affects the images or «sculptures» that man makes for himself, without concerning his actual way of looking. The A. analyses the meaning of the biblical expression «to see voices» (Ex 20, 15) and of the visual expression of reading. Reflecting on some specific religious precepts, she then shows that the visible constitutes an invitation to serve the invisible. Finally she suggests that the invisible stands in proximity, in the face to face with the other, vulnerable image of the Eternal. Forgetting that image is the only interdict.
