The emergence of the latest means of communication technology has so highly extolled the image, that it appears as a new challenge to any kind of theology founded on the Word and even to any kind of reflexive and critical thought. The A. contends that the biblical concept of imago Dei may help theology to find its place and to keep its critical function in its confrontation with the totalitarian claims of the media image… and is well apt to lay a theological foundation for a possible visual interpretation of the Word (which the A. explores in giving some esthetic possibilities and contemporary artistic propositions).
