La souffrance incarnée. Pâtir du monde et passer au Père
Emmanuel FalqueThe affirmation of an alleged usefulness of suffering (and of the possibility of suffering being spiritualised) seems to belong to the very core of Christian ethics. On the other hand, the contemporary metaphysical reflexion on the senselessness of suffering and on its necessary incorporation (Levinas, G. Marcel, Merleau-Ponty, etc.) invites the Christian, led by the suffering Christ, to acknowledge a new dimension of the «passion» of his Passover in which he will recognise, in the acme of that carnal experience, a finitude which is inherent to the world that the Son will not cease to offer and to «pass» to the Father.
