The fact that the «constitutional project» of Dt 16, 18-18, 22 is stylistically so well structured makes it possible for us to read it with the eyes of a political philosopher. Political decisions ought not to be solely viewed as emanating from the authorities; for every citizen, political decisions are a question of justice (to aim at what is right) and refer to the responsibility of facing the future (not to be afraid of it): such is the mind of the deuteronomic legislator.
