H.U. von Balthasar's ecclesiology seems to be ruled by the idea of the personality of the Church. Unsatisfied with the philosophical definition of the person, the author evolves a new concept of the person, both theological (integrated in the person par excellence, that is Christ) and dramatic (endowed with a mission in the salvific drama). The Church appears then as a feminine being, virgin, spouse and mother; she acquires her personal definitive expression in Mary, who embodies, before both God and Christ, the obedient and fruitful disponibilité of the creature.
