« Raison esthétique » et herméneutique christologique chez Balthasar
Jean-Louis SouletieAesthetic reason and hermeneutic reason might seem antagonistic, in the sense that they underline the tension between subjectivisation of faith and objectivity of revelation. Placing Christ's kenosis at the very centre of his christology, Balthasar invites us to realise the connexion between history and faith without separating attested content and attesting form. The figure of Christ no longer appears as the key of the decyphering of existence on the model of an existential explanation, but as an hermeneutics of the revelation understood as the self-expression of God in Christ and in his body, which is the Church.
