The religious evolution of Gérard de Nerval (1808-1855) is all the more difficult to establish due to the fact that this writer, who has left us some celebrated pages on the theme of sin and pardon, knew several stays in a mental hospital. The present study limits itself to two major late works (Pandora, Aurélia); the critical edition of these texts gives us an insight in the interior and often secret paths probably followed by a psychically fragile author.
