The expression «new economy» is understood here as a new stage in the development of world capitalism as a whole. From an ethical perspective it is clear that thanks to new technologies the leading sectors of the economy, culture and biotechnology, possess a direct power over human beings. Once this is understood, the mere pursuit of profit and financial growth become a form of human manipulation. Furthermore, under the influence of free market economic doctrines, significant inequalities are emerging in each of the three principal pillars of capitalism: employment and the firm, the market and private property.
